Hall of Fame

Hello everyone! How has your day been?

I feel that positivity and self determination can get people very far in life. My accelerated  geometry teacher, Mr. Billingsley, always quoted this, “attitude over aptitude.” According to dictionary.com, “attitude” is “manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing; tendency or orientation, especially of the mind” and “aptitude” is capability; ability; innate or acquired capacity for something; talent; readiness or quickness in learning; intelligence.” I agree with my teacher because a positive attitude and dedication increases your effort in whatever you’re working on. Whenever Mr. Billingsley gave us a math chapter test, we would always groan and say things like, “Well, who’s ready to fail!? There goes my B… At least you have a B…” But he would always cheer us up and play his theme song, which is Hall of Fame by The Script ft. Will.i.am.

Saying things like “I can never get it…it’s too hard…this is too difficult for me…only in my dreams…I give up,” will only hold you back from being awesome. Hopefully this song will help your change those thoughts. Let’s figure out the meaning of “Hall of Fame,” for all those who are in need of encouragement (which is everyone)!

Hey Brother

How are you guys? : D

I want to dedicate this song and post to something that me and my friends have been working on. Me, Stephanie, Sara, and Leah are working on something called an innovation project. We looked for a need and the need we found were foster kids. We wanted to help out orphanages and raise awareness of the matter. I feel that loving and caring for kids who don’t have a family is one of the greatest things on earth. We’ve successfully contacted an orphanage and we’re planning to do some arts and crafts with them and show it to the public and community. Since my blog is about music and songs, I think I’ve chosen a great song to explain how I feel about orphaned children and how we can make their lives better!

I love the music video, lots of feels : ) Let’s figure out how this song is so touching!

Expansion of Words

Hello everyone,
This week in school, we learned about the  literary technique of expanding one small word. It’s similar to what I do to music, I break each verse into miniature parts to expand and analyze it. For example, in my school choir, we recently sang a song called “Hope, Faith, Life, Love” by Eric Whitacre. This song consists of only 8 words. Yes, eight words. But they are extremely meaningful and are, you could say, attributes of a human.

The 8 words are: hope, faith, life, love, dream, joy, truth, and soul. Each word has a different sound and arrangement of notes that match the characteristics of each word.

The A Team

Hello everyone  : )

This post is going to be a little different then my past posts. I’m going to try a realistic view on Earth and one of the problems that need to be fixed. I think that blog posts should have uplifting thoughts and morals, but since life isn’t perfect, there should be some to explain problems in the world that are difficult to control. “The A Team” by Ed Sheeran really dictates what I’m talking about. Please enjoy the song and keep an open and clear mind.

I hope this song gave you a small glimpse of hope and a realization of change that’s need to make a more loving community. Since this post is going to be a little different, I’m going to try a different format of my posts. I think this new format of my posts will improve my writing. Well, here goes.

River Flows in You

How’s everyone?!

I’m feeling really serene and calm this week, so I felt like I should talk of this song. This is the piece that nearly every piano player knows (I know, two piano song posts in a row, instrumentals are awesome!). For those who don’t know this amazing song, it is called “River Flows in You” and was composed by Yiruma. Every instrumental has a story behind is, and I feel that the story behind this one is peace and love.  I also found this awesome website that holds the jackpot of Yiruma sheet music. So please, enjoy this masterpiece of music.

One Summer’s Day

Hiya guys!
Not many people know the song “One Summer’s Day,” but it would be my pleasure to educate you guys on this amazing song. First of all, there is a movie called “Spirited Away” which is about a girl who is trapped in the land of spirits and earns an adventure of a lifetime and discovers true love. Its not that corny unless you’ve watched it. Anyways, the theme song of that amazing movie is “One Summer’s Day” and its one of my favorite songs composed by Joe Hisaishi, the mastermind of this wonderful piece. Please listen, close your eyes, and prepare to be whisked away on an amazing adventure.

I hoped you really like this song. If so, I have links to the movie and sheet music for my fellow piano plays listed below. I’m not exactly going to interpret this song, but how I felt and how the notes moved and flowed in my mind. Yes I’ll be basing it a little from the movie, similar to the “Song of the Caged Bird” (but it was a short clip, not movie), but I’m hoping that my insight on this will encourage others to watch this awesome and touching movie.

Paradise

Hi guyz!
How was your week? I hope it was awesome. If not, have some Coldplay. The song I chose for the week is the awesome “Paradise” by Coldplay. What I like about Coldplay’s songs are that the majority of their songs are extremely metaphorical and the lyrics can always paint an image in your mind. “Paradise,” in particular, makes me imagine of a clear sun rise that tells me a brand new start of a great day. The song also reminds of of a great book I’m reading, but scroll past the usual post to read about the song’s relation to the book.

Soooo? What did you think? (sigh)…One of my favorite songs….
Anyways! Let’s pull out the meaning of this awesome song. Continue reading
